This should consist of a few things:

  • a boolean setting to enable colour similarity changing (defaults to true)
  • an algorithm to determine if two arbitrary colours are similar (for this using Hue & Lightness are probably sufficient)
  • an algorithm to shift two colours further apart (could modify one colour, or both)
